Removal - A Tutorial and Users Guide
Next, we will edit our Startup Files and Settings.

Start
> Run > type msconfig > Ok (Windows 2000 skip to Step 3)

Startup
Tab > Uncheck all boxes except those having to do with Norton
and Mcafee. Do not reboot when prompted.

Start
> Run > type regedit > Ok

This
will launch the Registry Editor

If
you are not familiar with editing the Registry, please don’t.
More than likely you will damage your installation. If you do
not wish to manually edit your registry, continue on to the
next section. For those of us who are not afraid, let us continue.

Click
HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > MICROSOFT > WINDOWS
> CURRENT VERSION > RUN >delete all startup programs
which do not belong except for Mcafee, Norton and any video
card software.

The
Current Version folder may contain multiple RUN Folders. Filter
through each one, removing various programs from starting up.

Click
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > MICROSOFT > WINDOWS
> CURRENT VERSION > RUN > repeat above

Click
HKEY_USERS > “go through each main folder” >
SOFTWARE > MICROSOFT > WINDOWS > CURRENT VERSION >
RUN > repeat above for all main subfolders under HKEY_USERS.

Next,
Start again at HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE >
Delete any folder referencing the above previously mentioned
spyware programs.
For example, Gain, Weatherbug, msbb, ncase, wtools, etc.

Repeat
this step for the remaining keys

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
> SOFTWARE

HKEY_USERS
> “go through each main folder” > SOFTWARE
Close registry
editor and reboot computer into SafeMode. This is done by pressing F8
repeatedly during system startup. Once the menu appears you can choose
to start computer using SafeMode. SafeMode will prevent programs from
loading and also prevent your computer from going online and reinstalling
any spyware.
